What To Expect From John’s Cena Retirement Tour

As 2025 draws nearer, the pure excitement and sadness for John Cena’s retirement tour gets tougher and tougher to grasp. To know that one of the absolute greatest of all time is officially calling it quits is hard to accept; however, as fans should know, any professional wrestler can’t do it forever. The grind of a WWE superstar is mind boggling and for an aging Cena, it’s only a matter of time that the body can’t take too many bumps. So with the retirement tour only 2 months away, what can the fans expect from this? With WWE’s Monday Night Raw heading to Netflix in January, 2025 will start out on the right foot, headlined with Cena’s tour.

One thing that fans are dreaming of for this tour are dream matches to occur. Cena has faced any and everyone that this business has to offer. From Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Batista, The Rock and countless other legends, but Cena has yet to take on the task of anyone like Bron Breakker. Bron Breakker is one of the fastest growing young superstars in the WWE currently and has a fantastic future ahead of him. He is the son of Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott Steiner, and has the golden opportunity by going one on one with John Cena. Breakker is the current Intercontinental Champion and that’s the only championship that Cena hasn’t won. With Cena’s career ending soon, a possibility of him chasing after the title he has never won would be a sight to see as a veteran goes toe to toe with the young up and comer.

The biggest question fans are wondering about is who should Cena face off against at his last Wrestlemania in Las Vegas. With plenty of superstars in mind, it’s only right for Cena to go after history by pursuing after world title number 17. A John Cena and Cody Rhodes match can happen in due time, however, Gunther has to be the one Cena has a match with at Wrestlemania 41 for the World Heavyweight Championship. Another dream match in the making for Cena as he’ll be going up against someone that is highly regarded as one of the very best in the WWE right now. Whether or not Cena wins or not, the fans will win by witnessing a passing of the torch moment of a superstar who carried the company for 20 plus years to another superstar who's just getting started.

As amazing as it was to see Cena facing off against the younger generation like he has with Austin Theory at Wrestlemania 39 and Soko Sikoa at last year’s Crown Jewel event, expect John Cena to go down memory lane and have one more match with some of his bitter rivals. Back in 2016, the unthinkable happened. Two of the biggest superstars in two different companies that transcended professional wrestling were finally in the same ring at the same time. When AJ Styles debuted in WWE, it was only a matter of time when fans would see a Styles versus Cena match and fans were not disappointed at the Summerslam event of that year. Now with the company for 8 years, arguably Styles’ best match was with Cena that night and their rematch at the Royal Rumble in 2017 was just as good so fans should watch out for another Styles/Cena feud and match once Styles returns from injury.

Another possible enemy that Cena could very well have another match with is none other than the Viper himself, Randy Orton. Now fans are manifesting that Orton can and should be Cena’s last match and what better way to go out than with someone like Orton. Orton and Cena were the Austin/Rock of their own generation and had stellar matches with one another on numerous occasions over the years. It’s highly opinionated but some fans think that Orton is Cena’s biggest and best rival and to have one last match for the fans that grew up watching these two would be simply nostalgia.
