Three Transfers That Changed The Outlook of Soccer In Europe

The summer transfer window in Europe is something that many of us fans look forward to every year.  Unlike the one that occurs in the winter, the summer transfer window is much busier, and more high-profile players are more likely to move due to the window occurring in the off-season for European soccer. With one week left in the window let’s look back at three of the biggest moves across Europe that changed the outlook of what to expect for this upcoming season in the world's number one sport. Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has been one of the best players in the world since bursting on the scene as a teenager at AS Monaco and becoming a household name at the 2018 World Cup leading his nation to the title in Russia. Now 25, Kylian Mbappe's final two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain were filled with constant rumors that the star would soon be leaving to join arguably the biggest soccer club in the world, Real Madrid. In May, Mbappe announced that he would be leaving his hometown club and making him a free agent. The star went on to sign a five-year contract with the reigning and 15-time UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid. Now, many are predicting them to win back-to-back UEFA Champions Leagues, something the European giants have done numerous times before.

Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid

Julian Alvarez after spending two seasons with Manchester City mainly as a key member of their bench decided to move to Atletico Madrid in search of a more consistent playing time. City and Atletico agreed on a 64.5 million euro transfer with 17.1 million in potential add-ons based on the Agrintian's performance for his new club. Alvarez was toted as a young player with lots of potential which was a key reason Pep Guardiola wanted the player back in 2022. After two seasons playing at City behind Erling Halland, who is a Ballon Dor contender every season, meant that Alvarez's role would be limited and those moving to Atletico to play for fellow Agrintian manager Diego Simeone with more guaranteed playing time being the main factor behind Alvarez leaving City. Alvarez won two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League title while with Manchester City and is looking to replicate that success at his new home in Madrid.

Endrick to Real Madrid

Real Madrid didn’t stop after signing star Kylian Mbappe, as they had an eye for the future of their club with the signing of Endrick from Brazilian club Palmeiras. Endrick was considered the biggest prospect in Brazil at the time and Madrid has had their eye on him since trying out for the club at the age of 11. His move to Spain is something we have seen before and very similar to fellow countryman Neymar when he made his move from Brazil to Barcelona a decade prior. Endrick now 18, has already represented his national team and competed in this summer's Copa America showcasing his skills on a more worldwide stage for everyone to see. Endrick will now be developed alongside some the the world's best wingers in fellow national teammates Rodrigo and Vinicius Jr in Madrid.
