Rams-Vikings Recap, Other Week 8 Storylines

The beginning of the Rams-Vikings was something that all football fans loved. 28 straight points to start the game was very fun to see. Neither defense had an answer for on either of the team's first two possessions. Both teams were able to do whatever they wanted however they wanted to do it. After the first two drives for both teams though, the defenses stepped up for both sides and shut each down the rest of the game. The Rams ended up winning the game 30-20 with some help at the end of the game to seal their victory. Matthew Stafford is genuinely a top 5 quarterback in the game today and is probably in the top 3 when you really look at it right now. You know he is always going to keep you in games and make the throws necessary to win you the game. The unlikely hero was receiver Demarcus Robinson. He only had 2 catches in the game, but both of his catches resulted in two huge touchdowns for the team. The Rams need someone to step up outside of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. If Robinson is able to be consistent it makes this offense even that much more of a threat.

Cooper Kupp was on the trade block going to the game last night. Now with the Rams sitting at 3-4 just one game back of Seattle, Kupp will more likely be staying right where he is at in Los Angeles. If the Rams were to have lost last night, it was looking as if Kupp could have been dealt to the Pittsburgh Steelers. That would have been a massive pickup for a Steeler team that is looking for some receiver help to go opposite of George Pickens. The Rams though are 1 game back and travel to Seattle next week after their mini-bye this weekend for first place in the division. With Seattle’s injuries and the Rams going to be fully healthy going into next week, the Rams are more than likely going to be in 1st place in the NFC West after next weekend.

If Jayden Daniels plays on Sunday, we get a matchup of the number 1 and 2 overall picks in the draft from this past draft. Both Daniels and Caleb Williams have shown promise this year. Both have also had their fair share of rookie mistakes as well. The one positive for both teams is that they have set themselves up in a position in the NFC to where the winner obviously is going to be looking really good for a playoff spot. The loser also though will still be in a spot spot. The Commanders are in first place right now in the NFC East with the Cowboys and Eagles not looking the greatest to start the year. This matchup between Caleb and Jayden could prove to us that the league is going to be in good hands at the QB position.

The NFL slate this weekend is really bad when you look at it. Nothing really catches your eye outside of Cowboys-Niners but both teams are playing bad football right now. Regardless, the weekends like this when it is a bad slate always deliver and provide the most entertaining, down-to-the-wire games. So on Sunday lets sit back, relax and watch some football.
