Philadelphia Phillies Put Up Two 11 Run Games In Royals Series

The Philadelphia Phillies bounced back from their 7-4 loss to the Kansas City Royals by putting up 11 runs in back to back games. Both of these games were team wins while also serving as career nights for some guys. The Phillies have been gearing up for post season baseball looking similar to the Phillies from the beginning of the year. Putting up two huge blowouts on the road should spark up more well rounded play from the ball club.

In the first game the Phillies welcomed back Ranger Suarez who had not pitched since July 22nd. Suarez lower back was monitored as he had pitch count that led in pitching only until the 5th inning where he looked to be slowing down. With the game only being 2-1 (Phillies) with a man on base Suarez looked like he was about to lose the inning. However, Suarez aced up and struck out the rest of the inning. The true hero of this game JT Realmuto blasted a three run home run the next inning. Even with the cushion of 5-1 lead Manager Rob Thompson pulled Suarez in the 5th inning. Suarez got his first win since June 8th from the injured pitcher. The Phillies finished this game 11-2 after an impressive hitting night.

JT Realmuto blasted two three run home runs and got himself his 7th RBI with a groundout in the ninth. This is

Realmuto's career high for RBI's in a game. The homer above was 393 feet in the eighth inning Realmuto went yard again for 424 foot bomb into the water fall fountains.

Backup catcher Garrett Stubbs had to have gotten inspiration from the starter Realmuto's performance hitting 4 hits a homer away from a cycle. It was the first four-hit game of Stubbs’ career according to Phillies.com. Stubbs had a triple, a double, and two singles getting hit by a pitch in the ninth. “I don’t know if I’ve ever gotten on base five times,” Stubbs said. “Maybe in Little League. I would have taken 4-for-5 with a chance to get a homer in the fifth at-bat.” (Phillies.com). Stubbs has been a very impressive bat off the bench for the Phillies including Weston Willson, who was the first Philly rookie to hit for the cycle. Having these utility players batting like this takes off pressure from the other Star bats like Bryce Harper, it also relieves pressure from the team's deep bullpen.

Stubbs showcased it all even showing off his impressive speed for a catcher laying down a bunt towards the first baseman. After being brought up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Kolby Allard, the spot starter, gave five solid innings. Allard left with a 3-2 lead after giving up two runs on eight hits in the 11-3 victory. The Phillies finally play at home after going .500 in the six away game stretch. The Phillies end the month with the Astros and then Braves coming to Citizens Bank Park. Crazy to think that after these two series we're in our last month of regular season baseball.
