Important Results Across UEFA Competitions

We are in the full swing of the UEFA European competitions, with teams from all over the continent competing. This year, there will be three continental-wide competitions: the UEFA Conference League, Europa League, and Champions League. Historically, some of the best players in the world have competed in these competitions and dreamed about winning them since they were children. Now, let’s look at some of the results of these competitions from the past week.

Barcelona gets its revenge on Bayern Munich

Barcelona has been one of the hottest teams across Europe since the start of the season. Much of this early success can be credited to first-year manager Hansi Flick. This past week, Barcelona finally beat Bayern Munich after the German powerhouse had their number in the Champions League competition in recent years. A match where Barcelona won 4-1 with goals from Robert Lewandowski and a hat-trick from Raphinha saw them easily pick apart Bayern Munich, who first-year head coach Vincent Kompany also manages. Barcelona beating bar Munich on Wednesday should give them all the confidence heading into the El Classico vs Real Madrid this weekend.

Captain America shines again for AC Milan

AC Milan, seven-time winners of the UEFA Champions League, were off to a disappointing start in the group stages, having lost their first two matches. Even with the two losses, one consistent bright spot for Milan this season has been American Christian Pulisic, who seems to be hitting his prime while playing for the Italian giants. Pulisic on Tuesday scored what could potentially be the goal of the tournament when he scored an Olympico goal, which is when a player scores directly from the corner spot. This, followed by another two goals from Tijani Reijnders, was enough to give AC Milan a 3-1 win over Club Brugge.

Tottenham stays undefeated in the Europa League

Tottenham is competing in Europe for the first time under second-year manager Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham with a 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar from the Netherlands in a match where the two clubs competitively met for the first time. Tottenham forward Richarlison scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot as club vice-captain James Madison gave up the opportunity to allow the forward to build his confidence. Tottenham are now second in the overall Europa League standings behind Italian club Lazio due to the club having a better goal difference.
