Cowboys-Giants Recap, Preview Of The Rest of Week 4

The Cowboys and Giants met in MetLife stadium for a rivalry matchup that ended up being pretty boring. There are two things that you can take away from this game. The first is that the Cowboys are not serious contenders in the NFC. They look like a really average football team on both sides on the ball. They have looked average all season. The second thing we can take away from this game is that while the Giants are not good, they have something really special in rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers. Nabers put up another stellar performance having 12 catches for 115 yards. Not to overreact off of four weeks, but Nabers looks to be the best rookie wide receiver and should have been the first receiver taken off the board.

Where do the Cowboys go from here? They start out the season 2-2 and have a very difficult 6 game stretch coming up. At Pittsburgh for Sunday Night Football, Lions, bye, at 49ers, at Falcons, Eagles, and then Texans. That is a really tough stretch that you are just hoping to split going 3-3. Being 5-5 after that is the best case scenario for the Cowboys. The schedule lightens up after that and should only lose one or two the rest of way. I want to believe in this Cowboys team. They are way too talented to look this average. The stars they have on both sides of the ball and the offensive line that have, they should look way better than they do. I am looking forward to next Sunday Night to see what they can do against a really good Steelers team on the road.

The biggest game of the weekend is the NBC Sunday Night Game between the Bills and the Ravens. I know it is early in the season, but this is a must win for the Ravens. You cannot start 1-3 and potentially be 3 games back in the division if the Steelers beat the Colts. This game is also important because we will get to how they utilize Derrick Henry against the Bills. The Ravens went under center more last week to complement Henry. It is interesting to watch because Lamar Jackson does not like being under center. Both players are going to have to compromise and some point and find some sort of balance between shotgun and undercenter. For the Bills, Josh Allen is an MVP front runner right now. A win against the Ravens on the road will solidify himself as a leader through 4 weeks and make him very hard to beat if he keeps performing. Also, the Bills have trusted their run game with the running backs this year. Against a good defensive front for the Ravens, it will be interesting to see how much they actually trust their run game, or if they abandon it if it is not working early. This should be a good game to watch and I am hoping it does not disappoint.

Can the Vikings beat the Packers on the road and start out 4-0? If Jordan Love does not for the Packers I believe the Viking's defense will have Malik Willis in a blender and confuse him the whole game. If Jordan Love does play. I think the Packers would take care of business at home. With the way they have played the last two weeks with Willis, who is not a good QB, they would look like a top 5 team potentially. For the Vikings, Sam Darnold has come out blazing hot after being written off. If the Vikings want to win this game they have to have a big performance from Darnold. This game is intriguing and has massive playoff implications already. The teams are going to be battling the Lions all season long for the NFC North. You want to win all your division games and set yourself up well for tiebreaker scenarios. Both teams have looked like playoff teams so far and if both teams can keep it up, they have shots at winning the NFC.

The rest of the slate of games on Sunday is kind of boring. There is not another game that jumps out to you. There are a couple games that look like it can take football back 15 years. Specifically Browns-Raiders, and Bengals-Panthers. Those are just some disgusting games to watch. You have to be a real football sicko like me to watch those games on Sunday. There are only so many football Sundays, so no matter what the slate is, you just have to sit back, relax, and watch football all day long.
