The amount of history, bad blood, animosity between Seth Rollins and CM Punk is at an all time high, going into their one-on-one match on RAW. This match was years in the making and will have any and every wrestling fan clamoring to their feet in excitement. When Triple H and the WWE made the announcement that Monday Night Raw will be officially heading to Netflix on January 6th, the fans knew there had to be something huge going down. From Tribal Combat between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa to see who’s the real Tribal Chief of the WWE. Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley will likely have their last match of their lengthy feud for the Women’s World Championship. Of course you have the Punk/Rollins match that’s filled with so much hype.
In the opinions of many wrestling fans online, Punk and Rollins should main event the first RAW on Netflix. Although Roman Reigns is arguably the top superstar in the company, he and Sikoa are not the main story here. The amount of story, emotion and realness between Punk and Rollins can’t be overlooked, which should push Triple H to put this match on last. Back in 2012, a group of young talent were together in arms and made their debut at Survivor Series putting Ryback through the announce table, officially making their mark on the company. The Shield, one of the top factions of all time in the WWE, with Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins intervened with Ryback’s match with the WWE Champion CM Punk and Punk and Rollins have been linked together ever since.
When CM Punk returned to the WWE at that very event back in 2023, it turned a lot of heads. It was expected but did anyone really think Punk would return to a company that he has verbally talked down to and negatively about since his departure in 2014? Especially after finally returning to wrestling but to AEW, no one thought Punk would come back after the War Games match featuring the Judgement Day and Drew McIntyre against Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, a returning Randy Orton and World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins. When Punk’s music hit in the AllState arena in Chicago, the entire building shocked in anticipation and emotion. Those sentiments weren't shown on Rollins. Rollins was irate, mad and very bothered at the fact that someone who bashed the company publicly wants to come back all of the sudden and be celebrated for it.
During a recent promo firing at Rollins, Punk revealed that he helped Rollins get into the business and was there for Rollins throughout his rise into stardom. In Rollins’ perspective, Punk left the company high and dry and didn’t care who he hurt. Punk is a cancer to the business to Rollins and he cut out the cancer on Monday Night on Netflix as Punk tends to dethrone Rollins as the absolute best in the world. This match cannot come soon though as pride, ego and pure hatred is the testament of this match and possible feud.
