Eric Ten Hag was seen as the next great manager in football just three years ago after his very successful spell with Ajax in the Netherlands. During his time at Ajax, the club reached a Europa League final and a Champions League semi-final and won the Eredivisie three times. Ten Hag, though, was known for his man management and development of players. Players like Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, André Onana, and Frenkie de Jong all earned big money transfers after playing under Ten Hag at Ajax. Manchester United came calling for the up-and-coming manager in 2022, but Ten Hag is now on the brink of getting sacked by the storied club three seasons later.
Credit: The Mirror Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and arguably the biggest club in England, primarily due to what longtime manager Sir Alex Ferguson brought to the club over his 27 years as Manager. Since Ferguson's retirement in 2013, United has had a sudden fall from grace, having not won the Premier League since Ferguson's last season in charge. Ten Hag was considered the ideal fit to finally give some sustainability regarding the manager positions, having gone through four managers before selecting Ten Hag in 2022. Ten Hag’s first two seasons at Manchester were filled with mixed results for the Dutch manager. In his first season, he guided United to third place in the league, qualifying them for the following year's Champions League tournament. Ten Hag also made two cup finals, winning the EFL League Cup and losing the FA Cup final, respectively. The following year was marked with disappointment, failing to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League and finishing sixth in the league, failing to qualify for the 2024-2025 edition of the tournament. Ten Hag, though, did win the 2024 FA Cup, putting to rest for the moment calls for him to be sacked. Now, in his third season at United, with new owners being brought into the club, it seems that it’s only a matter of time before United decides to pull the plug.

United invested almost $200 million during the summer, backing Ten Hag and getting players the manager wanted, but the results have only worsened. With these rumors of Ten Hag being sacked, the manager can’t afford a bad run of results, as it could mean the end of his time at Manchester United.
